![]() I use this tunnel to route certain LAN clients through using firewall rules (policy-based routing). Follow that up through the setup of the Outbound NAT rules, since the rest of the guide funnels all traffic through Mullvad 1. SpookyGhost wrote a very good guide for getting Mullvad connected in pfsense. The interface 'WG1' is assigned and enabled, and a gateway exists for it. Mullvad limits users to 5 wireguard keys, so my combination of devices + connections is limited. I am assuming I have not properly setup DNS since the WireGuard gateways show a stable connection but I really don't know. My current setup involves a Wireguard tunnel with a Mullvad wireguard server configured as peer. I followed the instructions exactly, with the only exception being the server I am connecting to, and rather than sending all traffic over the VPN I am sending only a single VLAN over the VPN. I am not having any issues on the devices using OpenVPN to Mullvad. Using pfSense with Mullvad I used the following guide to set up OpenVPN on the pfSense. I am also still using the OpenVPN gateway on some devices while trying WireGuard out on others. If it has any bearing on the issue, I do use pfBlockerNG v3.1.0 in python mode and pfsense v2.5.2. DNS server override is unchecked and DNS resolution behavior is set to default. Because this did not seem to work i also tried using just the Quad9 DNS servers and also both Quad9 and Mullvad DNS servers. In general setup I deleted my 2 Quad9 DNS IP's and hostnames and added Mullvad's 2 DNS IP's and hostnames. The Resolver is also set to forwarding mode. When i was using OpenVPN I only had the OpenVPN interface set and it worked great so I thought a similar setup would also work for WireGuard. I did try setting it to just the Wireguard interfaces but still had issues. ![]() My DNS Resolver is setup for DOT and I have my outgoing network interfaces set to the old OpenVPN and the 2 new WireGuard Interfaces only. A reboot did not help.Īll of my devices are setup to get DNS from pfSense. Some webpages are taking forever to load or do not load at all. Being a first time WireGuard user I followed Christian McDonald's YouTube video pfSense WireGuard Guide Series 001 - Mullvad Failover as my setup guide.īoth new WireGuard tunnels are getting handshakes and everything appears to be setup and working properly however my internet seems slow and unreliable while using the Mullvad Wireguard Load Balancing gateway. Recently decided to try switching from OpenVPN to Wireguard as my connection tunnel to Mullvad.
